State Bridge Road was designed to handle 35,820 cars/day; currently handles 49,625 cars per day (39% over capacity)
Solution:
Widening State Bridge Road from 4 to 6 lanes will accomodate 53,910 cars/day
Received $1.5 million grant from the State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA); Project cost is $4.625 million
Results:
Modeled widening reduces delay by 23% (58 second reduction/car)
Overall project reduces 268 hours of delay (23% reduction) each day)
