(unless such use or ignition during such times is not in compliance with the local noise ordinance in effect in that jurisdiction) The City of Johns Creek follows state law and the city noise ordinance. It is prohibited to use or ignite fireworks in the city’s public parks without an approved written permit from the City of Johns Creek.

(2) The use of fireworks is legal until 11:59 p.m. statewide around certain holidays (regardless of local legislation):

  • on Jan. 1,
  • the last Saturday and Sunday in May (before Memorial Day),
  • July 3 & July 4,
  • the first Monday in September (Labor Day),
  • Dec. 31, 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. time period; and Jan. 1 from 12 a.m. (midnight) to 1 a.m.
  • For noise complaints, residents can call 911

The Johns Creek Fire Department offers the following safety tips for residents:

  • If you are planning on using fireworks during your celebration, please use extreme caution
  • Only use fireworks that are lawful in Georgia
  • Fireworks should only be used outdoors, and in open areas away from other homes, structures, and other combustible areas
  • Afterwards, carefully place all used fireworks in a bucket of water to make sure that they are completely extinguished before placing them in the trash
