July is National Parks and Recreation Month, and the City is highlighting a different park each week.
Ocee Park, 10900 Buice Road
Ocee Park, a 37-acre complex primarily of athletic fields, offers eight lighted softball/baseball fields, plus four picnic pavilions, two playgrounds, tennis courts, volleyball courts, basketball and a half-mile walking/jogging track. Its athletic programs are run by volunteer parents. Since the City acquired Ocee Park from Fulton County in 2006, it has made several improvements, including adding sidewalks, installing five turf infields and landscaping projects, replacing scoreboards, expanding parking, and replacing aging playground equipment.
Three things to do at Ocee Park
1. Spike the ball at one of the two sand volleyball courts at Ocee Park.
2. Find hidden treasure using a geocache app on your cellphone.
3. Play baseball on one of the five new turf infields.
