October 15, 2021

*Update: Congratulations to River Trail Middle School sixth-grader, Tanush Jayakeerthi, who was selected as the My Exceptional City essay contest winner. View Tanush's winning entry here.

Johns Creek middle school students can enter the City of Johns Creek’s essay contest, “My Exceptional City.”
The city’s tagline, “Be the Exception,” recognizes the attributes that make our city exceptional: our schools, police and fire departments, our growing parks, and our diverse community. We are interested in hearing from our young residents about what this means to them.

Essay contest rules:
  1. Essays should be submitted with the online entry form (either typed in the form or as an attachment) and should be no more than 750 words.

  2. Essays should answer the following question: “There are many exceptionally wonderful things in and about the City of Johns Creek. What do you think makes your community exceptional?”

  3. Essays must be the original work of students in sixth, seventh, or eighth grades. Three (3) winners will be chosen, one from each grade, and each winner will be formally announced at the Mayor’s Address, Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 a.m. at the Country Club of the South.

  4. The winning essays will be published to the city’s website and social media accounts. Local media may be notified of your child’s winning entry.

  5. The deadline for entries is Friday, Nov. 5, 2021. Winners will be notified by Friday, Nov. 12, 2021.

There is no cost to enter the essay contest. Winners will be selected based on creativity and originality.
