City unveils community art competition 'Share Joy'

April 06, 2020

Share JoyThe City of Johns Creek embodies a thriving community. Through challenging times, it is important that we find ways to stay involved, engaged and connected however we can. It is vital that we continue to promote positivity and lift each other up. It’s especially crucial that, as the future of this community, our children remain active and joyful.
Georgia Public Schools are closed for the remaining 2019 – 2020 school year. Children are missing their classmates, social activities, and sports programs, and we want to provide them an opportunity to express a positive message that can be projected into the Johns Creek community.
The City of Johns Creek and the Johns Creek Arts Center invite elementary, middle, and high school students in the city to play a part in this campaign to "Share Joy!" Participants submit 2D art pieces that can be paintings, drawings, or digital illustrations. The purpose of this art is to uplift our community and bring positivity & comfort in these challenging times. Identify what makes you happy right now and create your masterpiece!
Here’s how it works:
  1. Choose something that makes you joyful, and create a piece of visual art to capture it
  2. Digitize your file by taking a (horizontal) picture or scanning it
  3. Submit your work through our website at www.JohnsCreekGA.gov/ShareJoy
A variety of submissions will be featured on the City’s social media and website. A handful of finalists will be selected by the Johns Creek Arts Center Board, and the winning selections (one each from an elementary, middle, and high school student) will be displayed at Johns Creek City Hall!

To submit, please visit www.JohnsCreekGA.gov/ShareJoy and fill out the corresponding form. We can accept only one submission from each student. We ask that submitted art be formatted in a 16x9 landscape aspect ratio, and we recommend including an artist signature in the bottom right hand corner of the art. Submissions will be accepted until Friday, April 17. For more information please visit www.JohnsCreekGA.gov/ShareJoy.
