The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of Johns Creek the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting in for its 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

The award represents a significant achievement by the city. The GFOA Certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the city and its management.

Governments that participate in the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program are asked to submit detailed reports within six months of the end of the fiscal year. The GFOA's review process typically requires an additional four to six months. Therefore, the 2017 program results are for comprehensive annual financial reports for fiscal years that ended during calendar year 2016.

Reports submitted to the CAFR program are reviewed by selected members of the GFOA professional staff and the GFOA Special Review Committee (SRC), comprised of individuals with expertise in public sector financial reporting, including financial statement preparers, independent auditors, academics, and other finance professionals.
