Taylor Road Middle School is partnering with local organizations in the City of Johns Creek to pilot a Walk to School event on Wednesday, May 10. Walking to school is healthy for our bodies and our environment. It is also a great way to start your morning and get to know your neighbors.
Finding alternate ways to travel to school is also another way to reduce the number of motorists in and around the schools in the mornings. This event is coordinated with the Fire Up Your Feet Spring Challenge which encourages students to track their physical activity to earn cash rewards for their school and the National Walk/Bike to School Day. You can register for the challenge at Fire Up Your Feet
. You can learn more about Walk/Bike to School Day here
If the event at Taylor Road is successful, it could serve as a good example for others to follow in the fall. So let’s set a great example for the rest of Johns Creek. Make sure you have a safe route to walk to school. Follow the rules of the road. Cross only at crosswalks. Wear light colored clothing and appropriate walking shoes.
