The City of Johns Creek will host its first international festival next spring, April 21, 2018. The festival will include food, drinks, performance art, and vendors representing cultures from around the world. This event is being presented in partnership with Leadership Johns Creek
, Johns Creek Arts Center
, and the Johns Creek Convention and Visitor Bureau
The Johns Creek International Festival – Taste of the World, is an idea created by the Johns Creek Cultural Diversity Task Force, which met between November 2016 and May 2017.
“The City Council and I are excited about the first Johns Creek International Festival next spring,” said Mayor Mike Bodker. “Johns Creek is one of the most diverse cities in the nation, which we view as one of our greatest strengths, and we look forward to another great opportunity to share cultures, learn, and grow.”
The purpose of the Cultural Diversity Task Force was to identify ways to embrace the many cultural ethnicities of Johns Creek. The main focus of the task force was to foster a holistic sense of community across Johns Creek while highlighting the City’s cultural and ethnic diversity. The task force envisioned the festival as a way to increase the awareness of and to celebrate different cultures and traditions found in Johns Creek and the metro area.
The Johns Creek International Festival will serve as a fun, inclusive way to draw the community together. This event will provide a unique opportunity for residents and the broader community to learn about and experience different cultures through the sharing of food, performance art, and more.
Johns Creek comprises an international population of approximately 25 percent, primarily from India, China, and South Korea. According to the financial advisory website WalletHub.com, Johns Creek is listed as the ninth most diverse small city in the United States for 2017.
