Johns Creek residents can get a detailed look at how their fire department operates through the Citizens Fire Academy (CFA), a program offered by the JCFD.
During the course, participants learn about JCFD operations, fire tactics and strategies and aspects of fire prevention and investigation techniques.
The Citizens Fire Academy is open to Johns Creek residents or those who work in Johns Creek age 18 and older who successfully pass the application process and a criminal history check. The Academy is limited to 25 people.
The academy meets for 9 classes: Feb. 20, 27; March 10, 13, 20, 31; April 10, 21; and May 1, 2018 and includes classroom instruction (equipment, fire prevention); demonstrations (CPR, investigation techniques); and practical exercises (fire ground training, emergency medical exercises).
The Tuesday evening classes are held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and the Saturday morning classes are held from 9 a.m. to noon. Most classes will be held at Station 62, 10925 Rogers Circle unless otherwise stated.
