Johns Creek receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

July 24, 2018

Edie Damann and Warren HutmacherGovernment Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of Johns Creek the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2018 budget.

The award represents a significant achievement by the City. It reflects the commitment of the Mayor, City Council, and staff to the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as: a policy document; financial plan; operations guide; and communications devise.

Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.

When a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is granted, a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation is also presented to the individual(s) or department designated as being primarily responsible for having achieved this award. At the City Council meeting held Monday, July 23, the award was presented to the City’s Communications Department and accepted by Edie Damann, External Communications Manager.

There are over 1,600 participants in the Budget Awards Program. The most recent Budget Award recipients, along with their corresponding budget documents, are or will be posted soon on GFOA’s website. You can also view the City’s budget on the City website.
