New Lacrosse Field Ribbon Cutting set for Oct. 21

October 16, 2017

Newtown Turf FieldOn Saturday, Oct. 21, at 8:45 a.m., the City of Johns Creek will host a ribbon cutting for the new synthetic turf lacrosse field at Newtown Park.

In September, the City began the process of converting two fields at Newtown Park from grass to synthetic turf and the sports field at Shakerag Park. The new turf fields allow upcoming sports seasons to occur with minimal disruption and will enable leagues to increase their playtime in conditions that would have otherwise been lost to rain.

Field Turf USA, Inc. is the same company contracted by Fulton County Schools for the design and installation of synthetic turf fields used by the school system. The new fields at Newtown Park and Shakerag Park were designed and are being installed according to the same specifications and regulations used by Fulton County Schools.

The main soccer field at Newtown Park and the sports field at Shakerag Park are still under construction and will be completed in November.
