Johns Creek police, fire departments battle for cook-off bragging rights

July 19, 2016

Big Green Egg Battle***Update (Aug. 13): Online ticket form is now closed. See you at the event!***

It’s a food fight between Johns Creek police officers and Johns Creek firefighters as they square off with spatulas, tongs, cutting boards and other tools of the culinary arts on Aug. 13 in the first-ever Big Green Egg Battle.

The two teams will compete to create the most delicious appetizers and entrees using a Big Green Egg at A&S Culinary Concepts, 9945 Jones Bridge Rd. Cooks won’t know what they’ll be cooking until the competition commences. Judges will consist of chefs provided by the culinary school and the public. The winner earns bragging rights and a trophy.

Tickets to sample the results cost $10 per person. Raffle tickets for a medium Green Egg cost $5. Tickets are available online, or at the City’s three fire stations and at the headquarters of the Police and Fire departments. Proceeds benefit The Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation. Canned food donations will be collected for the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

The event features entertainment for the whole family, including bounce houses, a petting zoo and music by the “School of Rock.”

The fun runs from noon to 4 p.m. with the cooking starting at 1 p.m.

The Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation was established in 2008 to assist firefighters and police officers injured in the line of duty or to assist their families.
As a 501(c)3 entity separate from the City of Johns Creek, the Foundation also promotes and supports community outreach on the part of the Johns Creek Fire Department and the Johns Creek Police Department and encourages private sector support for Johns Creek's public safety personnel.
