New Free Outdoor Fitness classes at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve starting June 12

May 27, 2016

Outdoor FitnessBeginning in the spring of 2015, the City of Johns Creek Recreation and Parks Division launched a new fitness program, Free Outdoor Fitness. The Yoga and Zumba classes were held under the Newtown Park Amphitheater on select Sunday mornings and quickly grew in popularity.

The free classes were wildly successful and almost always had large group participation. The 2016 season has been no different, and with the continued popularity, the Recreation and Parks Division is proud to announce the start of a new Free Outdoor Fitness Series at Autry Mill Nature Preserve.

A compliment to the existing Outdoor Fitness program at Newtown Park, the Autrey Mill Edition features Bar-less Barre classes taught by certified fitness instructors from Elevate Barre Studio.  The classes will be held once a month, beginning on June 12 through September, and are open to participants age 16 and older.

Participants must be over the age of 16 or older on the day of class. If the participant is under 16, an adult must accompany them. No registration is needed, but all participants are required to sign a waiver prior to the start of the class.

The original Free Outdoor Fitness classes will continue at the Newtown Park Amphitheater and are held on the first and third Sundays of the month through October.
