A long way from home, the Russian Youth Baseball team has traveled over 5,000 miles to the city of Johns Creek to play “America’s national pastime,” with players from the Ocee Park Athletic Association 9-10 year old baseball teams.
The Russian Players will join local players at Ocee Park on Tuesday, March 29 to participate in mixed team games, beginning with warm-up at 5 p.m. and games starting at 5:45 p.m.
“This is a great opportunity for these boys to get together to play a game they love and to learn about each others unique cultures,” said Jeno Marvel, Ocee Park Athletic Association.
The games are organized by Atlanta International Umpires, the association that umpires for the Ocee Park Athletic Association. The Russian players will be playing in multiple locations around Atlanta.
The Russian team, led by coach Pavel Gladikov, comes to America from Moscow and will be in the Atlanta area from March 28 till April 9. The eighteen players are staying with host families, and in addition to the local games, will be attending an Atlanta Braves game and visiting other local Atlanta attractions.
