Christmas Tree and Dreidel Lighting ushers in 2016 Holiday Season

Tree & DreidelThe traditional Dreidel and 30-foot Christmas tree lightings move to a new home at Newtown Park on Tuesday, Nov. 29 and will feature Santa, his reindeer, and other festivities to kick off the 2016 holiday season.
Festivities start at 6:30 p.m. with Christmas carols by local elementary school choruses, followed by the lighting of the tree and Dreidel on the Park Place event lawn at Newtown Park.
Old St. Nick will hear youngsters’ wish lists. Free hot chocolate and hotdogs will be available while they last, and s’mores, too! There will be crafts, music, and kids' activities, including trackless train rides. The celebration concludes at 8:30 p.m.
Guests are invited to sign the giant holiday cards designed by Johns Creek 5th graders for military personnel at our three Georgia veterans hospitals. The cards will be available for signing at the tree lighting and City Hall through the first week of December. The city is also collecting new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots, be sure to bring one to the event or to City Hall. Donations are being accepted through mid-December.
