Spring is just around the corner, so Johns Creek gardeners should sign up quickly for a plot in the Newtown Park Community Garden. Applications will be accepted for one month, beginning February 16.
The Community Garden offers 41 plots in which people can grow vegetables and flowers. Community gardens are popular among people with little or no space for gardens. The garden has four raised beds for those who have trouble working at ground level. Each plot is 4 feet by 8 feet.
The Johns Creek Garden Association, which manages the garden, is accepting applications from Feb. 16 through March 16. To be eligible for a spot, one must be a member of the Johns Creek Garden Association. Membership costs $10 annually.
A garden plot applications fee is $60 and seniors pay $25. Membership and application fees are refundable for people not selected for a plot. Anyone may apply for a garden plot however first priority will be given to Johns Creek residents. Plot assignments will be distributed at the Newtown Park Community Garden Work Day on Saturday, March 21.
