Right-turn lane planned at Jones Bridge and McGinnis Ferry in Johns Creek

August 27, 2015

Jones Bridge & McGinnisThe City of Johns Creek is about to address a problem point for many people driving in the northern part of town: Jones Bridge at McGinnis Ferry roads.

In late September, the Public Works Department will begin adding 700 feet to a northbound, right-turn lane from Jones Bridge Road onto eastbound McGinnis Ferry Road. Then, to allow those folks time to merge into the flow of traffic, the City will add 1,000 feet of transition lane on McGinnis Ferry Road. Construction is expected to take about three months.

Motorists at this intersection experience considerable delays with through-traffic and right-turn traffic sharing a single lane.

The project is being coordinated with Forsyth County, which is planning to widen Brookwood Road, which becomes Jones Bridge Road in Johns Creek, and McGinnis Ferry Road from just north of Sargent Road to Ga. 400, where the Georgia Department of Transportation will install a new interchange.
