Sign up for spring and summer programs at Johns Creek's active adult center, Park Place, which offers a variety of classes and programs
Park Place offers activities such as Zumba, cooking workshops, art workshops and social activities like the Evening Dinner Club, Book Club, and knitting and crocheting. Trips to Topgolf Alpharetta and Lane Southern Peach Orchard wineries are also planned.
And, you won’t want to miss the International Film Series in May and June at Park Place. The movies are highly acclaimed projects that have been shown at film festivals, independent theaters, or at specific film series programs across the U.S. Films scheduled to be shown include: “Stories We Tell,” Sunday, May 24 at 3:30 p.m.; and “The Visitor,” Sunday, June 28 at 3:30 p.m. RSVPs requested and refreshments provided.
The active adult center also offers "Silver Sneakers/FLEX Fitness" yoga, "Cardio & Strength," and a new class, Silver Team Boot Camp, which combines functional exercise movements in a teamwork format. The FLEX program is funded by insurance companies and works with adult activity centers like Park Place to provide certified instructors that offer free or reduced cost fitness classes and programs. To find out if you are eligible to participate in the program, fill out a registration form at Park Place.
Park Place programs and activities are designed for Johns Creek residents aged 62 and older. Residents are given first priority for all programs. If additional registrants are needed to conduct a class or program or to achieve a more-enhanced experience, registration may be opened to non-resident Park Place guests.
Park Place is located at Newtown Park, 3125 Old Alabama Road. Starting the week of May 4, Park Place will be open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Fridays & Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The center is closed on Sundays, and City-observed holidays.
