Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker encouraged an audience of about 250 business, civic and community leaders and citizens to help shape the future of the City by helping shape The District during his Annual State of the City Address at the Atlanta Athletic Club on March 6.
“Active participation in public input meetings is needed to ensure the District solves our economic viability challenge but also represents your vision of Johns Creek,” Bodker said. “Johns Creek citizens and community leaders like you must take ownership of the community’s legacy by engaging in the Master Plan process. You are the history makers who will determine what Johns Creek looks like 20, 50 and 100 years from now.”
The speech covered the City’s achievements from 2014 and then focused on The District, a bold vision that would create a downtown sense of place on a 728-acre area centered around Technology Park. The Mayor said The District is necessary to ensure the City’s long-term economic viability, to bolster its attractiveness to businesses, culture, families and young professionals.
The speech included a 3-minute video about The District.
