More than 100 people gathered at the Newtown Park Amphitheater for this morning's Patriot Day Commemoration, honoring first responders and those who were killed on Sept. 11, 2011.
During the event, the Johns Creek Fire Department unveiled a structural steel remnant from the World Trade Center. Following the ceremony, the piece will be on display at Station 61 off Medlock Bridge Parkway.
The commemoration also included remarks by Alpharetta Police Officer David Freeman, who was wounded in the line of duty in 2013, as well as remarks
