Johns Creek's active adult center, Park Place, offers a variety of classes and programs
, such as Zumba, cooking workshops, computer classes and more. Summer trips to the Tellus Science Museum, Gone with the Wind Museum and North Georgia winery tour are planned.
Park Place activities include yoga, Tai Chi, lunch and learn events, and art workshops. Social activities include bridge, the Park Place Book Club and Evening Dinner Club.
The active adult center also offers "Silver Sneakers/FLEX Fitness" yoga, "Cardio & Strength," chair aerobics and chair yoga classes. The FLEX program is funded by insurance companies and works with adult activity centers like Park Place to provide certified instructors that offer free or reduced cost fitness classes and programs.
If you have health insurance through a company that is included in the FLEX program then you are eligible to participate in the program as part of their insurance benefit. If you are not eligible through your insurance provider, you can still participate in these programs at a reduced cost. To find out if you are eligible to participate in the program, fill out a registration form at Park Place.
Park Place programs and activities are designed for Johns Creek residents aged 62 and older. Residents are given first priority for all programs. If additional registrants are needed to conduct a class or program or to achieve a more-enhanced experience, registration may be opened to non-resident Park Place guests.
Park Place is located at Newtown Park, 3150 Old Alabama Rd., and is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. The center is closed on Sundays and City-observed holidays.
