"Mr. Peabody & Sherman" opens Movies at Newtown Park series June 14

Mr. Peabody & ShermanGo back in time and experience some of history's major events with "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" in the first of Johns Creek's 2014 Movies at Newtown Park series, starting June 14.

The animated film, rated PG, is about the time-travelling adventures of an advanced canine and his adopted son, as they endeavor to fix a time rift they created.

Movies at Newtown Park, now in its eighth year, is a free, three-movie series of family-friendly films shown on an inflatable screen in a picnic atmosphere at Newtown Park. Movie dates are June 14, July 12, and Aug. 9. Movies for July and August are yet to be announced.

In addition to the films, Movies at Newtown Park includes pre-show entertainment like inflatable moonwalk, face-painting, children's activities, give-aways, music, food and drinks. Pre-show activities start about two hours before sundown.

The movies start at dusk. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and relax as they watch the movie. No alcohol or pets please.

Movies are rated G or PG. The 2014 Movies at Newtown Park series is being sponsored by Northside Hospital.

Newtown Park is located at 3150 Old Alabama Rd.
