The Johns Creek Fire Department has named Randall Heath Powers as the "Firefighter of the Quarter" for the second quarter of 2014.
"Firefighter Powers is very deserving of this honor," said Johns Creek Fire Chief Jeff Hogan. "We value his hard work, determination and commitment to the department and to his fellow firefighters."
Powers, who was born and raised in Cleveland, Ga., started volunteering with his hometown fire department in 1994 and became a professional firefighter with Coweta County in 1996.
He received firefighter training at the Georgia Public Safety training Center near Macon, Ga. and joined the JCFD when it launched in 2008. He is currently a firefighter II/EMT (emergency medical technician) at Station 61 off Medlock Bridge Parkway.
"It's an honor to be recognized, however, I feel that everybody I work with at Station 61 (C Shift) is deserving of the award," said Powers.
