Clubhouse Fitness adds tai chi to its March/April session

February 04, 2014

Tai ChiIn addition to its usual yoga, pilates and Zumba classes, the Johns Creek's Clubhouse Fitness program will offer the graceful martial art of tai chi in its March/April session.

Registration begins Feb. 3 and runs through Feb. 21.

Tai chi involves a continuous series of slow, focused movements accompanied by deep breathing. Tai chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels.

Recreation and Parks has also added evening classes for Yoga/Pilates Fusion on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Pilates Mat Class on Friday at 6 p.m.

Classes, which are 60 to 75 minutes long, meet once a week for eight weeks beginning March 3. There will be no classes during Fulton County Schools' spring break April 7-13. Instruction costs $50 for residents and $75 for non-residents. All fitness levels are welcome.

All classes are taught by certified instructors and are held at the Newtown Community Clubhouse located at Newtown Park at 3115 Old Alabama Rd. Participants must be at least 16 years old.
