Planned Trails & Sidewalks

Developing more multi-use trails and sidewalks to accommodate a variety of pedestrian and recreational users will help the City achieve its objective of becoming a pedestrian friendly community that links parks, neighborhoods and shopping.

The Johns Creek Greenway – a connected network of multi-use trails and sidewalks throughout the City – is the City's vision to make that pedestrian-friendly community happen.

Conceptualized nearly 10 years by a group of dedicated residents, the Greenway was designed and incorporated into the City's Transportation Master Plan, adopted November 2008 as part of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan. (For more information see Appendix B of the Community Agenda.).

The City's plans for future trail and sidewalk development are summarized in the Future Sidewalk & Trail Network, which depicts existing, programmed (funded) and proposed (conceptual) multi-use trails and sidewalks. Showing locations and alignment, the map serves as a template for construction of all future trails and sidewalks along major roads.

The City is committed to providing interconnectivity with neighboring communities. Thus the map also identifies locations of possible pedestrian connections to greenways and parks of adjacent jurisdictions (City of Alpharetta and Forsyth and Gwinnett counties).

Once completed, The Johns Creek Greenway will offer many benefits for the residents of Johns Creek, including reducing automobile traffic and improving air and water quality.
