STOP (Solicitor. Teen. Officer. Parent.) is a teen safe driving program designed by the Police Department and Municipal Court to reduce the number of teen traffic accidents and repeat violators in Johns Creek (see brochure). It was created due to a disproportionate number of young traffic violators in Johns Creek.
The program has both Mandatory and Voluntary Modules. Teen violators (17-20 years old) may be ordered by the City Solicitor or Municipal Judge to participate in the Mandatory Module. Parents and teens can choose to participate in the Voluntary Module.
STOP educates young traffic violators (and also Johns Creek teens who voluntarily sign up for the program) on driver safety, and allows direct communication between police and parents about their teens' driving habits and traffic violations.
Additionally, Johns Creek's three high schools require attendance* at a STOP driver safety education presentation in order to obtain a student parking permit. The presentations are held in the auditorium and parents are encouraged to attend with their teens.

Voluntary Module
Parents may voluntarily register with the Johns Creek Police Department any motor vehicle that will be driven by a family member under the age of 21.
On the registration form, parents submit teen driver, car and contact information. A decal is issued to the parents to place on the upper left corner of the rear window of each car registered.
If for any reason the registered vehicle is stopped by a Johns Creek police officer while being operated by a driver under the age of 21, the officer will complete a notification form (time and location of stop; driver's name and number of passengers; reason for the stop; whether any traffic citations were issued). Parents will receive an email notification, making them aware of potential problems and enabling them to enforce any parental rules that coexist with their teen's driving privileges.
If interested in the STOP Voluntary Module, please call Johns Creek Police Community Services at 678-474-1606, or complete the online STOP Registration form. You can also pick-up a registration form at the Johns Creek Police Department. See the Municipal Court/Police calendar for class dates.
