CPR Classes

The "Heart Ready" program offered by the JCFD provides both CPR /AED & Opiate awareness training to residents of Johns Creek. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of recognition by the Johns Creek Fire Department.

CPR CertificationCPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is an emergency procedure in which the heart and lungs are made to work by manually compressing the chest overlying the heart and forcing air into the lungs. CPR is used to maintain circulation when the heart stops pumping, usually because of disease, drugs, or trauma.

The use of an AED (automated external defibrillator), a small, portable device that sends an electric shock to the heart and restores a patient's heart rhythm to normal levels, greatly increases the chance of survival.

Participants must be at least 12 years old and residents of Johns Creek. The classes hold up to 10 people. Check the JCFD's online CPR class application form or the City's calendar for class dates, times and location.

Each class is limited to 10 participants. Online registration becomes available 30 days prior to each class.

According to the American Heart Association, every 26 seconds an American has a coronary incident and every 60 seconds someone dies from one.
