2012 Action Plan

The Community Development Block Grant Program provides federal funding to address unique community needs. Authorized under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, the program provides annual grants on a formula basis to local governments and states. The City of Johns Creek is eligible for grant funds under the Entitlement Community Program, one of several CDBG programs the Department of Housing and Urban Development offers. The purpose of these grants is to develop viable communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and opportunities to expand economic opportunities, principally for low and moderate income persons.

In accordance with the Consolidated Plan adopted by the Johns Creek City Council on July 29, 2009, the city intends to continue improvements to the Newtown School House on Old Alabama Road for provision of a Senior Center and senior programming for the 2012 Action Year. The City is estimating the 2012 award to be approximately $254,000.

We would like to encourage citizen input in the formulation of the 2012 CDBG Action Plan. Through this process other community needs may be established. The initial step is a 30-day comment period that will commence March 23, 2012 and end April 21, 2012. The first Public Hearing will be held April 23, 2012 at the City of Johns Creek City Council Meeting, 12000 Findley Road, Suite 300, and Johns Creek, GA 30097.
