Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker was named one of Georgia's most influential people in the February/March 2011 edition of James magazine.
"I'm extremely flattered and honored to be included among those known for their public service and dedication," Bodker said. "I will keep working hard for the citizens of Johns Creek, and I hope I will continue to justify the confidence shown me."
Bodker was one of four mayors on the list, along with Deke Copenhaver, mayor of Augusta, Kasim Reed, mayor of Atlanta, and Robert Reichert, mayor of Macon. James magazine selected Gov. Nathan Deal and businessman Arthur Blank as its 2011 Georgians of the Year.
James magazine Editor Gary Reese said Bodker is known for his leadership abilities.
"A vibrant new community needs vibrant, trusted leadership," Reese said. "Around metro Atlanta and at the state Capitol, those are the attributes that Mayor Bodker is known for. Just ask around."
Bodker sits on the Georgia Municipal Association Executive Board, and is chair of the GMA Revenue and Finance Committee. He is a North Fulton mayoral representative of the Atlanta Regional Commission, serves on the ARC Executive Committee, the ARC Transportation and Air Quality Committee, the ARC Regional Transit Committee, and as ARC treasurer.
Mayor Bodker is a member of the board of the North Fulton Municipal Association, which he helped found. He also was voted to two terms as chairman of the Metro Atlanta Mayors Association.
