Johns Creek selects 'Firefighter of the Quarter'
Robert Jackson, firefighter/EMT, receives honor

The Johns Creek Fire Department has named Robert Jackson the "Firefighter of the Quarter" for the third quarter of 2010, said Chief Joseph Daniels today.

Jackson, a nine-year veteran of the firefighting service, was selected by his superiors and peers because of his exemplary service as a Firefighter II and emergency medical technician (EMT).
"Robert is always willing to go above and beyond for his fellow firefighters and the Johns Creek community," said Daniels. "One example of that is his involvement with a local teen drivers' education class. When he talks to the class about safety, they listen."
A native of Montgomery, Ala., Jackson served with Fulton County Fire and Rescue for six years and the East Point, Georgia Fire Department for one year before joining Johns Creek in 2008.
"Being a firefighter has always been my dream," said Jackson. "Helping people is what I do, so getting an award for something I love to do is an unexpected gift. I'm very grateful."
In addition to his service in Johns Creek, Jackson teaches a C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) class in his hometown of College Park.
Jackson received his EMT training at Atlanta Tech in 2007.
