Johns Creek sends 'Holiday Mail for Heroes'
5th graders create special greeting cards from city
12/2/2010
The City of Johns Creek is teaming up with the American Red Cross this year for its fourth annual "Holiday Mail for Heroes" program, sending holiday cards designed by local elementary school students to American service members, their families and veterans around the world.
The cards feature a montage of designs submitted by Ocee and Finley Oaks elementary school 5th graders, who won the city's annual Holiday Card design contest.
One airman in Baghdad already knows he's getting one of the city's special greetings. He's U.S. Air Force Sgt. Steve Durrance, brother of City Clerk Joanie Jones and Field Services Superintendent Sam Durrance.
Residents can stop by Johns Creek City Hall, 12000 Findley Road, fourth floor, to sign the oversized cards before they get shipped off December 6.
