Wells Fargo stagecoach joins Johns Creek Founders Day Parade

11/18/2010

Wells Fargo stagecoachThe legendary Wells Fargo stagecoach will bring a touch of the Old West to Johns Creek in the 4th Annual Johns Creek Founders Day Parade on Dec. 4.

The stagecoach, pulled by a four- to six-horse team, harkens back to the 1860s when stagecoaches carried passengers, mail, and valuables from town to town across the western U.S.

The stagecoach is patterned after the original designed by carriage-builder J. Stephens Abbott and master wheelwright Lewis Downing in Concord, N.H. The Wells Fargo stagecoach joins the No. 16 Nationwide Series NASCAR owned by the Roush Fenway Racing team, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, and the Chicago Fire Pipes and Drums, as well as about 15 floats, Johns Creek high schools' marching bands, and about 2,000 parade performers.

The parade is the highlight of a week of festivities celebrating the founding of the City of Johns Creek on Dec. 1, 2006. The parade will be emceed by Emmy Award-winning 11Alive news anchor and longtime Johns Creek resident Karyn Greer.
