teepee at Autrey MillNative American ways and history come to life Saturday, Nov. 13, as Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center offers demonstrations on dancing, fire-making, and use of primitive tools.

There also will be drum performances, a history lesson on toli, precursor to lacrosse, as well as American Indian stories and crafts. It's a great opportunity for Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts to progress on their "Native People" badge.

Food, drinks and s'mores will be available.

The event starts at 11 a.m. and finishes at 2 p.m. Individual passes cost $5 for members, $7 for non-members, children younger than 3 are free. Family passes cost $15 for members, and $20 for non-members.

And to get a jump on the weekend, Director Ben Team will conduct a night hike to teach about nocturnal animals at the 46-acre nature preserve starting Friday at 8 p.m.
