Johns Creek swimmers break state records
8/3/2010
The Johns Creek Aquatic Team took home eight first-place medals, five second-place medals, four third-place medals and broke three state meet records at the Georgia Recreation and Parks State Swim Meet in Carrollton July 30-31.
Not bad for a team that's only three years old.
In all, the 85-member aquatic team, who call themselves the J-Cats, medaled in 27 individual events and 12 relay events. The state meet is open to swimmers aged 7 to 18 years old.
The Johns Creek 12 & Under boys freestyle relay team, comprised of Jacob Rubin, Knox Auerbach, Hunter Doster and Danny Cooney, broke the 2009 record of 1:43.23 with a time of 1:40.96.
Jacob Rubin broke the boys 11-12 100-yard Freestyle record of 52.63 held in 2009 with a time of 52.20. He also broke the boys 11-12 50-yard Freestyle record of 24.33 held in 2008 with a time of 23.78.
In the Boys 11-12 100 yard Individual Medley, Johns Creek swimmers swept the first three places, with Hunter Doster taking first, Knox Auerbach winning second and Danny Cooney landing third place.
