Kids do lot of diggin' at Public Works Day

5/17/2010

2010 Public Works DayFrom bulldozers... to backhoes... to bucket trucks... Johns Creek's 2nd annual Public Works Day was too much fun to miss for many kids.

The Saturday, May 15, event at Johns Creek High School drew hundreds of children and parents for an up-close view of all the trucks and equipment that keep the city going.

Also educational, the event's hands-on demonstrations included: learning how to avoid underground cables when digging in the ground; how stormwater is managed; and how the city's roads are maintained.

The city's private partners, CH2M HILL, Blount Construction, Roadworx, Wildcat Striping, and Optech-Monette joined the fun, too, with staff members constantly answering the same question, "How does that work?"
