Business taxes past due on April 1
Penalty and interest accruing

As of April 1, all Johns Creek business certificate applications are past due and subject to penalties.
The city code states that late-filers face a penalty of 10 percent of the tax due plus 1.5 percent interest per month. Business owners who stall long enough will have to go to municipal court, where they could be fined another $500.
Fortunately, last year only a handful of the City's estimated 2,500 businesses had to appear before a municipal judge.
