3/24/2010
The City Council has signed off on a $4.9 million spending plan to improve traffic flow, roads and walkways.
Among the improvements are constructing a roundabout at Bell Road and Boles Road, implementing an Intelligent Transportation System that will allow City workers to remotely manipulate traffic signals to better accommodate traffic flow, and engineering the replacement of two bridges.
The money also will be used to fill in 1.7 miles of gaps in the Johns Creek Greenway.
Using state and federal money, the improvements include:
Bell Road at Boles Road – $540,000 for right of way; $800,000 for construction
Intelligent Transportation System on Medlock Bridge, Jones, and State Bridge roads (cameras, sensors and fiberoptic cable) – $850,000
Bridges on Parsons Road over Johns Creek and Bell Road over Cauley Creek (engineering and right of way) – $1.71 million
Greenway (Abbotts Bridge Road sidewalk connecting 1.7 miles of sidewalk gaps between Jones Bridge and Medlock Bridge roads) – $1 million
