JOHNS CREEK, GA—In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, the Johns Creek City Council will recognize the youth program with a privileged resolution Feb. 8, at City Hall.
"The City of Johns Creek is proud to recognize the many accomplishments and dedicated volunteers who help to make the Boy Scouts of America a shining star in our community and throughout the world. We extend our greatest appreciation for their tremendous contributions and for providing an invaluable program to this generation and beyond," said Council Member Ivan Figueroa.
Since its founding on Feb. 8, 1910, the Boy Scouts of America has provided education to build character, develop personal fitness and train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship for 111 million boys and young men. More than 2 million have become Eagle Scouts, the BSA's highest accomplishment.
"The City of Johns Creek, in its young history, has been privileged to recognize 64 young men who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout," said Figueroa. "Johns Creek is a very active scouting community."
Scouts from Troop 3143, based at Johns Creek United Methodist Church, will present the flag and colors to open the council meeting.
All Chattahoochee and Milton District scouts, their leaders and their parents are invited to join the Johns Creek City Council for the 100th Anniversary recognition on Monday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 12000 Findley Road, Johns Creek, GA 30097.
