"Officer of the Quarter" JCPD Sgt. Paul Michaud, 2nd from left, is congratulated by his wife, Julie, Chief Ed Densmore, City Manager John Kachmar and Susan Hall from BB&T Bank, State Bridge Road, Johns Creek, sponsor of the awards.

Sgt. Paul Michaud was named the Johns Creek Police "Officer of the Quarter," Jan. 14, for his service to the department during the fourth quarter of 2009.

A native of Jackson, Mich., Michaud joined the JCPD with its inaugural squad in April 2008 and has served since then as a detective in the Criminal Investigation Division.

"This award, voted on by his peers, recognizes Sgt. Michaud's outstanding leadership and investigative skills in particularly challenging incidents," said Police Chief Ed Densmore. "It is well deserved."

Beginning his law enforcement career with the Hudson, Mich. Police Department, Michaud served there six years before moving to Georgia and joining the Fulton County Police Department in 1992.

Over 16 years, he rose from a patrol officer to become a lieutenant and supervisor in Fulton County's major case division. Along the way, Michaud worked in administration, crime prevention, field training and community oriented policing. He was one of a select group of police officers chosen to implement Georgia's crisis intervention team training.

"It means a lot to me to get this award, but this is a result of working on a team to accomplish collective goals," Michaud said about the honor. "You can't do this job by yourself. We're all fortunate to work here in Johns Creek."

Michaud holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. and is a graduate of the Safety Leadership Institute at Mercer University.
