Mayor Bodker being sworn to ARC BoardMetro Atlanta Mayors Association Chairman Mike Bodker was sworn in as one of the newest members of the Atlanta Regional Commission Board of Directors at the board's meeting on Dec. 2. Bodker joins the board to represent the North Fulton County mayor slot, replacing Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos, who is leaving the ARC board. Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, Atlanta Council Member Clair Muller and Canton Mayor Gene Hobgood are also leaving the ARC board. Atlanta Mayor-elect Kasim Reed, Waleska Mayor Doris Ann Jones and a yet to be named Atlanta city council member are joining the board.

As chairman of MAMA, Bodker was also tapped to join the Regional Transit Committe, formerly known as the Transit Implementation Board.

As the RTC, the committee will undergo significant changes to its structure and procedures, giving it the support and stability required to begin the critical next steps of financing projects and hiring staff. The RTC will continue the work of developing a region-wide fare structure and payment process that would allow riders to traverse the Atlanta region – changing providers as needed – in a seamless, consistent manner.
