Fifth-graders invited to design city holiday card
Oct. 30 deadline for submissions reflecting Johns Creek

As part of the Johns Creek Founders Week celebration Nov. 30-Dec. 5, officials want to create a new tradition by holding a contest to design a holiday greeting card specifically for Johns Creek.
The contest is open to all fifth-grade students in Johns Creek. The winning submission will be adopted as the official City Hall holiday card and will be sent along with a special greeting to Armed Forces members from the area serving in combat.
Deadline for submissions is 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30. The winning entry will be announced at the Nov. 9 City Council meeting.
Submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Incorporating aspects specific to Johns Creek
- Use of art elements - color, shape, form, texture
- Use of design principles - balance, contrast, pattern
- Originality - unique, fresh, interesting
- Festive - invokes holiday spirit
- Communicative - meaningful, expressive
- Craftsmanship - skill, degree and quality in the work
