Registration open for Dec. 5 Founders Day Parade

March down State Bridge caps week of festivities
10/1/2009

Founders DayFall is now upon us and that means the third annual Founders Day celebration is not far off, so it is time once again to register for the city's popular march down State Bridge Road, scheduled for Dec. 5 this year.

Last year organizers expanded the party recognizing the anniversary of the city's incorporation to a full week, culminating with the parade held the first Saturday in December. Plans are under way now to make the celebration bigger and better, but it's not too early to make your plans to participate in the parade.

Last year close to 100 entries participated, ranging from the popular Yaarab Shriners to high school marching bands, Scouts, community floats, classic cars and a special appearance by Santa himself. If your neighborhood, school or organization would like to be among them, fill out a parade application and submit it by Nov. 13 to secure your space.

The route remains the same, travelling down State Bridge starting from West Morton Road and ending at Kimball Bridge Road at Ocee Elementary School. Emmy Award-winning news anchor and Johns Creek resident Karyn Greer from WXIA 11Alive News will once again serve as emcee.

Download a parade application and review the parade rules here. See the Founders Day page for a complete listing of events and more information.
