Contract for McGinnis Ferry Bridge expected in October

The Georgia Department of Transportation reports that environmental issues have been resolved and a contract for the McGinnis Ferry Bridge project over the Chattahoochee River is scheduled to be awarded in October.
GDOT reports that Georgia Power is already relocating their utilities in preparation for the work. If all goes according to schedule, GDOT officials say, work on both the bridge and the overall McGinnis Ferry Road widening project would be completed in the spring of 2011.
