Groups urged to help keep 'Rivers Alive'

Clean up starting Sept. 1, celebrate Sept. 12 at Fall Festival

Rivers AliveThe City of Johns Creek and Keep North Fulton Beautiful invite area groups to organize cleanups as part of Rivers Alive 2009 taking place Sept. 1-12.

Groups are encouraged to conduct cleanups along waterways, in neighborhoods, and on school and church grounds; stencil storm drains or sign up for the city's Adopt-A-Road program.

Activities culminate at the Newtown Fall Festival Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Newtown Park, 3150 Old Alabama Road. Awards will be presented to cleanup groups. There also will be interactive environmental games and other family activities including a moonwalk, food and vendor booths, and entertainment.
