The United States Postal Service recently announced that effective April 1 it now recognizes the use of Johns Creek, GA as a valid mailing address within the 30024 ZIP Code.
The move allows residents and business owners at close to 700 addresses to use Johns Creek as their hometown address. Those based in ZIP codes 30005, 30022 and 30097 have been able to use it for some time now.
"The decision by the Postal Service to recognize Johns Creek is welcome and gratifying," said U.S. Rep. Tom Price, who helped the City gain the approval. "As the community continues to grow and thrive, it is only appropriate that residents are able to proudly address their homes as such. This achievement demonstrates what can be accomplished when members of the community, local leaders, and federal officials work together to meet Johns Creek's unique needs as a developing municipality."
The move means that more than 99 percent of city residents and businesses can use Johns Creek, GA for their address. A small section in the southwest part of the city, located in the 30076 ZIP code, will continue to use Roswell as their mailing address. The USPS recently gave residents and businesses there a choice to change to the 30022 ZIP code and the post office that serves it. A majority of respondents decided against changing.
"We are pleased that almost every residence and business location in the city can proudly 'choose to use' Johns Creek in their mailing address," Mayor Mike Bodker said. "It is our hope that people will change their addresses on bills, magazine subscriptions – everything they receive – to Johns Creek, GA. Similarly, we hope businesses will proclaim Johns Creek as their shop location on business materials, menus, signs and so forth."
