Residents of the Seven Oaks subdivision in Johns Creek now have a clear reminder not to dump trash and debris into the stormdrains in their neighborhoods, thanks to the efforts of about 25 Cub Scouts.

education program on December 6.

The Scouts, from Packs 3143 and 4143, spent December 6 working with members of the City of Johns Creek's Community Development Division to place 140 markers on stormdrains throughout the subdivision.

Plans Coordinator Julie Paquin and Land Development Manager Seth Yurman began by giving the Scouts an overview of stormwater and the types of stormwater pollution and discussed ways citizens can help protect water quality. They then supplied the Scouts with street maps and marker supplies and turned them loose.

The event, part of the City's stormwater permit requirements, is designed to educate the community about the importance of water quality and the different components of the city stormwater infrastructure.

Once the Scouts completed their task, they were rewarded with a pizza party and given a goodie bag in appreciation for their efforts.
