After nearly a year of planning, the new Johns Creek Fire Department becomes official tomorrow, Tuesday, October 7 at 7 am.

At that time, the new Department's 78 Johns Creek firefighting professionals will assume fire and emergency response services from the Fulton County Fire Department, which has served the North Fulton community for more than 30 years.

With the transition, Johns Creek takes over three Fulton County stations: Fulton County Station #12 (10265 Medlock Bridge Parkway) becomes Johns Creek Station #1; Fulton County Station #20 (10925 Rogers Circle) becomes Johns Creek Fire Station #2; and Fulton County Station #8 (3165 Old Alabama Road) becomes Johns Creek Fire Station #3.

Following the October 7 transition, Johns Creek will hold an official Opening Ceremony of its new Fire Department on Saturday, October 11 at 3 pm at Johns Creek Fire Station #1, 10265 Medlock Bridge Parkway.

The entire Department will be presented to the public for the first time and joining in the ceremony will be representatives from the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs, Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Rural/Metro Ambulance and the Metropolitan Fire Association.

A special presentation will be made by Emory Johns Creek CEO John Quinlivan, acknowledging the hospital's recent $20,000 donation to help purchase 12-lead cardiac monitors for the Department's new Quick Response Vehicles.

The public is welcome to join the ceremony and families are encouraged to bring their children to see the new Johns Creek Fire Department ladder trucks and fire engines.
