In an effort to crack down on underage liquor sales in their city, Johns Creek Police, with assistance from the State Department of Revenue, have cited eight Johns Creek establishments for selling alcohol to minors.
A total of 17 businesses were investigated for violations of their alcohol beverage licenses in the Thursday evening Sept. 4 undercover operation, led by the Department's Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
Medlock Wine & Spirits at 10900 Medlock Bridge Road, Jeffrey's Sports Bar at 11585 Jones Bridge Road and Anatolia at 10970 State Bridge Road each received 3 citations.
Two citations each were given to State Bridge Corners Chevron at 5940 State Bridge Road, Shell Food Mart # 510 at 10645 State Bridge Road, DC Beverage at 10950 State Bridge Road, Link Express (CITGO) at 9870 Nesbit Ferry Road and Harp Irish Pub at 10305 Medlock Bridge Road.
"This was a concerted effort to prevent underage drinking and subsequent drunk driving by teens in our city," said Captain Brian Weaver, CID Commander. "We had received complaints about these businesses and the complaints were warranted."
Maximum penalty for each citation is a $1,000 fine and six months in jail.
