The work of 500 children participating in the Johns Creek (formerly Ocee) Arts Center Visual Arts Camp goes on display at the Georgia Aquarium August 5.
The campers, in grades pre-K through fifth, spent six weeks working on two paper mache sculptures – an 11-foot long beluga whale and a 6-foot long bow mouth guitarfish – created in the camp's "collaborative" classroom, one of five that the children rotated through during the summer.
"The theme for the Johns Creek Arts Center camp this year was 'Under the Sea,' so the partnership between the two Fulton County non-profit agencies came naturally," said Dyanne Carpenter, the Art Center's executive director.
The works will be unveiled 10 am August 5. For more information, contact the Johns Creek Arts Center at 770-623-8448.
