Johns Creek is Georgia's 1st 'Heart Ready' City

Congressman Tom Price and officials from the American Heart Association, Emory Johns Creek Hospital and the City of Johns Creek gathered July 26 to celebrate Johns Creek's designation as Georgia's 1st 'Heart Ready' City.
Every 26 seconds an American has a coronary incident and every 60 seconds someone dies from one, according to the American Heart Association. The use of an AED – a small, portable device that sends an electric shock to the heart and restores a patient's heart rhythm to normal levels – greatly increases the chance of survival.
That's good news for Johns Creek residents, where on July 26 the city became the first in Georgia to receive the American Heart Association's "Heart Ready City" award. The distinction recognizes the City' commitment to training its staff and citizens in CPR, and to placing AEDs throughout the community including in all its patrol cars.
